Reflection Number 2

1. Overall, when you think about the big picture of your writing, what improved? How did it get better? Why?

Overall, I feel my writing improved immensely. My formatting of my work has greatly improved from the 5 paragraph essays that I started with to the loop method which helps the reader understand and get a better understanding of the content. I also feel that my overall sentence layout has greatly improved from the choppy hard to read blob of text I had in the beginning, to the flowing, well written article that it became.

2. Overall, when you think about the big picture of your writing, what still needs work? What do you think will help you improve? Why?

I always have the problem with words I use. I tend to have a very limited vocabulary and tend to use a lot more passive verbs and “ing” more than I really should taking power away from my writing and making it sound like the same thing the whole time. This was a problem I still struggle with but after many critiques and looking over it myself, I feel I have gotten a lot better.

3. Specifically, show us something that improved and describe the path it took to get better. You can quote your article, your drafts, link to evidence, etc.

Overall my writing has improved but some parts that have improved greatly have been my layout and conclusion. When I first started writing this piece, I wrote it in a simple and very basic 5 paragraph essay. After learning the loop method where we start off with a personal event then explain that event with information, I changed my writing to where it would be more descriptive and be more interesting for the reader.

4. Describe something specific (or a few things!) that you learned about writing.

I learned a lot about my writing, especially how much I depended on a normal 5 paragraph essay. After using it or so many years transitioning to this more complicated but much more formal style was a hard task but I feel I did pretty well for my first time. I still feel i could work on my wording an sentence structure, as well as making it more active piece of writing, but I know that will take time for me to understand and formulate my ideas in a simple but entertaining manor.

Magazine Reflection

1. What went well for you during the process of creating this magazine?

One thing that went well was my time management. I made sure I managed my time so I used it wisely so when inputting our layouts and doing critiques could be done on time running my group as well as Vannessas into the right direction. Something else that worked would be how had my group worked, everyone did their part which allowed me to make sure everyone’s work was ready as well as my own.

2. What challenges did you face as you moved from an early draft or idea to a final product?

Some challenges I faced were balancing my work with the work of everyone else in my group. Since I had a lot of people I had to get onto the magazine, I had to make sure everything worked. I also faced problems with computers, getting one that unplugged turning it off or the hard drive failing the day before it was due. Luckily I was able to talk to other groups and get the things situated to where everyone could get their work in on time.

3. What other examples of work—student and professional—stood out as exemplary and served as a good model for your own work?

Some examples I used were the Atlantic and National Geographic. I liked how they used there formats and ho they incorporated their pictures with their text. I tried to follow another article and saw many other people in my team doing the same. In the end I also looked at articles like Jade’s and a few others to get ideas for the front page.

Obama and Socialism

When i first looked up Obama Socialism, i saw a lot of republicans talking about Obama trying to make the united States a Socialist government with all the laws he is trying to put in place and democrats making fun of the republicans for judging Obama.

Personally i dont feel that those are correct, i feel that his policies are for the country so taht it can get out of this recession not to force our government into a socialistic government.

Yes they do, since he is the president whatever he does will set precedents to what happened in the past and will be looked at or compared to other presidents whether they be good or bad.

Photo Essay

The Beginning of the Day

I walk up the stairs and look up to see a building containing LARC(Language Acquisition and Research Center), my internship location. LARC is located at SDSU and I have been and will continue interning here for the length of this semester. As I approach the building I wonder what I will be working on during the day. After walking up to the fourth floor I try to mask my deep breaths from the 10 flights of stairs. After I reach the fourth floor, I walk down the long hallway watching college students walk to class. As I watch these college students walking to and from class ideas of what college will be like pop into my head. Once I reach Room 410 all the thoughts about college go away and my work day has begun.

Distractions at the Workplace

I walk over to one of the far desks and start working on one of the many instruction sheets I have to do. While working, I also have to help students that come in with any problems they may have, which distracts me from my work and stops my train of thought. After an hour working on instruction sheets, a college student comes up and asks, “How do you use Skype?”, I follow her to the computer she is working at and guide her through the different programs for voice recording and video editing. After she understands how to use the programs and can finish her work by herself, I go back to my desk and continue the instruction sheets that I have to do. At around 11 a.m. a teacher walks in and informs Jonathon and me that a class will be coming. To get ready for a class we have to get certain things prepared such as the projector, computer operating systems working correctly and opening applications necessary for the lesson.

Class has Begun

The class has begun and the teacher has let Trevor give a basic workshop on how to use the program Skype. Jonathon is demonstrating how to use the programs on the instructor station while Trevor is explaining what the class is supposed to do. At this time I am walking around taking pictures of the class and answering questions people may have such as, “Why can’t I hear my partner?” and “Why cant I hear anything?” Those are 2 very common questions that are generally answered by turning the volume up or someone accidentally clicking the mute button on their microphone. Once the class has finished their assigned task we show them a program called Fetch. Fetch is used as a “shared documents” folder for turning in assignments, which we them use to put their videos in before they leave. After the class leaves and the room is quiet again, we turn the projector off and leave Room 410 heading towards Room 419.

Meeting with our Mentor

After leaving Room 410, Jonathon and I walk down the hall and reach Room 419, this is the open access room for all college students who attend SDSU and where the offices of my mentor and many of my colleagues are located. We walk to the back of the room, past the rows of computers and hard working students and walk into the office of our mentor, Trevor Shanklin. We inform him that we are leaving for lunch and what work we have accomplished this morning. After hearing our progress he says “good job” to Jonathon and I which I then head out, past the rows of computers, and go down the long hallway and walk down the stairs until I get to my car.

End of the Day Routine

Upon Returning from lunch, I go and head down the hall again towards room 419. Here I work with a few of my colleagues on the website and see how everything is working. Room 419 is where I get all the information on what I need to change on my instruction sheets and how we will get everything together. After getting input from my coworkers I spend the next hour critiquing my work and proofreading it with Jonathon. Once my work is done, I talk to Trevor once more. Once I am done talking to Trevor I leave Room 419, walk through once again the long hallway, down the steps and end my day with a quiet drive home.

3 questions on magazine

1. What article(s) would you like to write for the magazine? What photography could you contribute? Art? List three different ideas for your major contribution.

I would like to use my photo essay for this, article wise, i personally would not like to add anything becuase most of my time will be focused on the layout and design of the magazine.

2. Suggest at least one (or more) possible title for the magazine. This could be a title with or without a subtitle. For example, I work for UnBoxed: a Journal of Adult Learning in Schools.

Some titles could be internship, released or 11th grade, Randy Team Good pieces of writing and photography.

3. Suggest a topic for an article that you were personally like to read in a magazine inspired by the internship semester.

A topic i would like to write about is comparing and contrasting the economy now a days to older times, as well as add some of my history blogs.

Internship Immersion

I learned a lot at internship, as well as hone many skills that i will have to use for many years. During internship i had to write a lot of introduction sheets as well as teach classes how to use programs such as iMovie. This helped with my speech skills, my openness with people as well as a better understanding of these programs that i did not completely understand when i started. There are many skills that are needed in a job and all though not all of those are knowledge related people skills is a very big thing. Without people skills you will not meet friends and you will not be able to interact with your teammates or your colleagues making it much more difficult to get work done. Other than that, i felt that immersion was a great thing and very happy i had it because it allowed me to experience life at work and help me cross of teacher as one of my jobs choices.

Franklin D. Roosevelt was in office during a rough time in America’s history, we are in the middle of the depression, unemployment is at an all time high, people are still getting laid off, and everyone is worried if we can ever get back to what we once were. There were many things that Franklin D. Roosevelt did to help soften this blow, and took his job very seriously and to heart because he knew everyone was looking to him for answers. To bring the U.S. economy out of the depression Roosevelt, and his brain trust, proposed a “First Plan,” proposed the “Second New Deal.”

First thing Franklin did when he entered office was put together a brain trust of economists and other professors who all had one goal, to help the failing U.S. economy. Roosevelt experimented with many things like the price of the dollar, putting money into banks and starting relief for the unemployed. One of Roosevelt’s advisers, Hopkins, persuaded Roosevelt to enact the Civil Works Administration that would, “Do something socially useful… preserves a man’s morals.” Due to the high price of this program Roosevelt soon disbanded this program but used it as a guide for future programs. Roosevelt then started a program that is still known of today for making some of the most important structures in U.S. History. The PWA is called the Public Works Administration that put unemployed workers to work by hiring contractors to build big jobs like the Triborough Bridge, the Lincoln Tunnel and two Aircraft Carriers. This gave people a job as well as allowed consumer spending since people were getting money once more.

This second plan was during a time of huge up rest of workers, there were strikers everywhere around 1900 at one time and it was telling Roosevelt he needs to work faster. He felt his answer was the Emergency Relief Appropriation Act of 1935 with a record of 4.8billion dollars for relief and employment. Some went to the NYA to help get jobs for younger people but the bulk of it went the WPA. “Before its end in 1943, the WPA employed at least 8.5 million people and built or improved 100,000 schools, post offices, and other public buildings.” Social Security was also a plan that was put in place to help those people who could not help themselves the aged poor, the infirm and dependent children. These new programs brought relief to workers and helped those that needed it; people believed he was answering their prayers.

The last thing that brought the U.S. out of the depression was war. World War 2 was happening and the U.S. was being dragged into it. It was the Bombing of Pearl Harbor that brought up rest at home and it was the invasion and axis pacts that forced the U.S. to side with the failing British and French governments. This war allowed a record number of jobs for building weapons. “Within two weeks Churchill was in Washington, meeting with Roosevelt to coordinate production schedules for ships, planes, and armaments.” The newspapers laughed at them saying it was outrageous but in the end, they made more than scheduled which probably brought the turn around of the war and the U.S. economy.

In the end, Roosevelt was a great man and with the help of advisors and his first lady, brought the United States out of the depression. There are some who say he didn’t do much, that the U.S. would get back to its pre depression status on his own but if he got elected for four terms, he must have been doing something right. From my knowledge of this period he changed the federal government as not just a maker of rules and protector of lives, he used to delegate everything from money to jobs. He used the federal government for the people rather than the people working for the federal government. It was through his first and second plans that change started and new policies were in place but it wasn’t until World War 2 for us to get out of the depression and focus on a scapegoat which at the time was the axis evil.

Immersion

1. What are you most excited about in regards to your immersion experience? Why do you feel this way?

What I am most excited about is being at work all day, its going to be a change of scenery and will be very different for me. I also am very excited to be working on the website since that will be one of the major jobs we will have. As well as working on the instruction sheet.

2. What are you most concerned about (what causes the most stress) regarding immersion? Why do you feel this way?

What causes the mos stress is the Math and Humanities homework we will have. i dont know what to do for my photo essay and i just dont know where to start it. With math, if he gives us homework, which he will, and how to do it, which im not fully sure how to do it.

Please answer each in as much depth as you can--I am so very interested in learning about how you'll be doing out in the "real world"!

Big Game Blog

Things to consider (choose some, not all!):

* Workers & Working Conditions?

Working conditions were really bad. Talk about the triangle shirt waist fire.

* Imperialism?
Imperialism is the taking over of other countries for colonies. it is pretty much expansion.

* Civil Liberties?
Civil liberties were being thrown out of the window. People felt the best way to stand up to these unjustices by sticking together in unions.

* Freedom?
Their were a lot of things that people did to protect their freedom, like the populist party being made, and worker unions standing up to get better payor better working conditions.

Good Blogs

1. Economic Advice

Daniel Ludolfs economic advice was good because it focused on one topic throughout the entire blog. It also had good evidence allowing the reader to see understand the point of deregulation. This quote shows its relation with current times and how it affects our country today. "Obama even depicted the current economic crisis is a consequences of deregulation, and he is not the only one. Michigan's Phil Hart, held hearings on the concentration of economic power in the United States, and proposed expanded government regulation of everything from the oil and auto industries to sports. In my opinion this is exactly what we need to do."

2. Literary Analysis

Ana Forsythe's blog shows good literary devices. One that was particularly good was the one talking about conflict. She uses evidence from the book to support this and makes sure she explains what that quote mean."Santiago would encounter a problem during his journey and it would take him time to fix it. One of his first major conflicts was a lack of money that he needed to go to the Pyramids to fulfill his "Personal Legend"." This shows his character and gives us a little information about the character as well as about the conflict of the story.

3. Historical Writing

I feel Ester's blog gave people a good portrayal of the populist party or what people called "The People Party." She shows them how they form and who they protected. They were a group of laborers fighting for more rights."The Populist Party otherwise known as The People's Party was a political party that wanted to represent the farmers and laborers in the 1890's. They were "clinging to their strategy of working within the Democratic party.""This shows people who they were and why they did what they did. Allowing people to understand the true reasons behind the populist party.

Happy Birthday

What responsibility do we have for the understanding of science?

The responsibility that we have is to see if these advances in science constrict the laws of people in the United States. We have to make sure that these sciences or new technologies don't affect with peoples lives.

What role should scientific inquiry and scientific knowledge play in our own society?

Scientific knowledge should help us better understand our rules and help us live our lives either with inventions like robots and other inventions that help people.

How should science influence our decisions, laws, and culture?

Science should influence decisions because they allow people to have a better understanding. When they are taught these things, they are allowed to choose their own ideas and what they believe in. They also affect people because people changing their gender to people living longer, these are all things that are affecting our economy and rules due to the science that is advancing so fast.

and there is no coincidence that all these peoples have beards.

The Election of 1896 was the turning point of our country; it was the begging of a new way of thinking. It was advancements and changing political views that brought these gears in motion forcing this election to be very important. This turning point was brought about because of the United States struggling economy, the populist part and military ventures across the seas.

At the time when the gears of change were happening the economy was not in the best condition. People were losing their jobs and overall people felt there was no way to prevent it, and it was true. The economy wasn’t the only thing that was struggling, the government, and the corruption that comes with it, was at an all time high. A quote from Nation of Nations shows how these men who are elected to office are not only a benefit to there country but also to their parties. “But dismantling the reigning “spoils system” proved difficult for politicians who rewarded faithful supporters with government jobs regardless of their qualifications.” As the United States went through countless presidents who fought for their party rather than their nation and as years past the United States longed for a man that would lead them into the new century.

Populism, the response of countless years of farmers being put down whether it be from tariffs, agricultural price drops and loss of land. For many years farmers struggled and felt that companies and factories were being given benefits at the cost of the farmers so they tried whatever they could to get equal rights. These farmers formed organizations that sponsored picnics dances lectures to break the bleakness of farm life. The organizations then formed into what the press called the “Alliance Movement.” These alliances met and formed a national alliance; with this national power they issued the “Ocala Demands.” This quote talks about what the Ocala Demands said. “The manifesto reflected their deep distrust of “the money power” large corporations and banks whose financial power gave them the ability to manipulate the “free” market. The populist party was very successful being a third party, they were happy with the democrat president Grover Cleveland becoming president and for the first time ever Weaver polled over a million votes the first time a third party candidate has ever done that.

Imperialism was very popular in the late 1800s. Many countries were racing to see who could have the most colonies such as Spain, England and Portugal. Since everyone else was doing it, the why not the U.S? It would allow people to see them as a super power and allowed admirals to strengthen their decrepit and dwindling navy. This phrase “Manifest Destiny” has been tossed for the last 500 years. It was said when the English came to North America and now North America is using it to spread its influence on other countries, whether they ant it or not. These ventures were thought of as a way to get out of their depression and to thrust themselves into a world super power. Such places of interest were Cuba, Pacific Islands, Alaska and countries in South America. One of these wars was the Spanish American War over Cuba. This quote talks about how the war turned out, “The Navy, under Admiral William Sampson, blockaded the island, expecting the Spanish to flee under the cover of darkness. Instead, on July 3, the Spanish fleet made a desperate dash for the open seas in broad daylight. So startled were the Americans that several of their ships nearly collided was they rushed to attack their exposed foes. All seven Spanish ships were sunk, with 474 casualties. This was a fine display of United State will power and military might, and was a show of force that led presidents to see that war is always an option.

The election of 1896 was a big one due to the changes that were being made both politically, economically and ideologically. They caused a lot of different events to happen and forced people to stick up for what they believe in no matter the odds. In the end it was the economy, the populists and foreign expansion that brought the election of 1896 to be such a change of thought and a window to the true power that the United States can attain.

Advice for the President

Part 1.

There is a lot of things that i feel our president should address. One of those things is the fact that know one is buying anything freezing our economy and the market. What needs to happen is a stimulus needs to be put on people who buy things like tax rebates or something that drives people to buy items because with out it the economy will never get better and everyone will lose money due to inflation. This quote talks about a stimulus plan that helps the average worker. "The bill produced through negotiations in the Senate late Friday night and into Saturday is a $827 billion package of government spending and tax cuts. It cuts some $40 billion in aid to states from the House version of the bill and scales back President Obama’s signature middle-class tax cut. The Senate plan also creates new tax incentives to encourage Americans to buy homes and cars within the next year."
As well as giving tax cuts and allowing the American public to buy items again we also need to address the foreclosures that are happening. People are losing there houses at a alarming rate and its causing more and more people to become homeless. This affects everyone and especially the house market. This quote shows another part of this stimulus packages job and what it is going to do for the American people. "Well, let me say that there are really four things that we have to do. First and foremost, this crisis started as a mortgage crisis, but what is really driving the foreclosure crisis right now is that people are losing their jobs. And so job number one is to pass a recovery bill that will add three to four million jobs in this country." These two things are major factors that need to be looked and at are things that happened in the past. During the Great depression their was such a large amount of people losing their jobs which caused the economy to drop drastically and the stock market and banks turning over didn't help this either. These are things that need to be fixed and not fixed from the top and hope the wealth trickles down but from the bottom since it is the workers and middle class that owe the upper class due to loans that they were really never able to pay.

Even when we fix all this there are still may peolpe who believe that this wont be enough to stop this depression from happening. A quote from the New York Times by Paul Krugmen, who on the Nobel Prize for economics states, "Even if the original Obama plan — around $800 billion in stimulus, with a substantial fraction of that total given over to ineffective tax cuts — had been enacted, it wouldn’t have been enough to fill the looming hole in the U.S. economy, which the Congressional Budget Office estimates will amount to $2.9 trillion over the next three years." This shows the true extent that these companies have caused and how this greed and distrust over such a long amount of years has pretty much sent out economy into a downward spiral and now were about to hit the ground, cue the sound affect guy because everyone in the United States is going along for the ride. This is in direct correlation with the historical events of the Guilded Age. After years and years of greed our economy crashed and equality was being threatened by big businesses. We need to fix this anyway possible before it gets to far to where all we can do is wait.

What Makes a Good Interview

1. Setting up your interview

Before you are able to have a interview, you have to schedule it with the person you are going to interview. You have to first ask your mentor to make sure you are able to have an interview and decide on a time and place for it. After that is done you can work on getting prepared for your interview.

2. Structure/Order:

The questions have a logical order, this will lead to the person you are interviewing giving more focused answers. For example if you have all you questions relating about college and their college experience and not jumping from a question about their college to something about their internship experience (if they have ever had one) and back to talking about college you will get higher quality interview.

3. Goals

By setting goals your questions can be asked to get more detail and quantity out of the answers. For example, If I want to know more about how my mentor chose the job I will lead up to that point by asking a series of questions such as: What were some of your interests when looking for a particular job? Is the career your working in now suit those interests? Why did you choose this job?

All these design principles can be found in Dr. Feel It, an article written by Deborah Solomon.

Eisenhower's Departing Words of Wisdom

Eisenhower Farewell Address

It is tradition for a president to give in inaugural address and a farewell address. These are things that presidents have done for many years and allow the presidents to thank certain people and to address the public with issues they hope to accomplish. One man who warned the United States about a pressing issue is President and supreme commander of the Allied forces, Dwight David Eisenhower. Eisenhower thanked many people and thanked the country for voting him into office but being a general in the armed forces he was aware of how influential private corporations can be in government, this influence of private corporations is called the industrial military complex. Through the years private corporations have extended their reach and the Iraq war is a prime example of an event where private companies and the government worked together to get oil, make money and start a new world order.

One man who was a strong supporter of the Iraq war was Dick Cheney. Dick was the vice president to George W. Bush and before becoming vice president was CEO of a Dallas based Oil Company called Halliburton. When he ran for vice president he retired from being the CEO but still had a large share of the company. Since Halliburton is an oil company and Iraq has a lot of oil, Dick made a contract with Halliburton to privatize the rights to drilling and harvesting of oil in Iraq before the war even started. This quote talks about how much Dick benefited from this contract. “Between 1992 and 1999, the Pentagon paid BRS more than $1.2 billion for its work in trouble spots around the globe. In May of 1999, the US Army Corps of Engineers re-enlisted the company's help in the Balkans, giving it a new five-year contract worth $731 million.” As you can see, Dick made a lot of money which makes people wonder if he was using his seat in government to make money for himself when he retired, which with these numbers and the large amount of shares he has in the company that would make a lot of sense.

Many people believe war has no winner, but in the Iraq War their was definitely a winner, and that would be the U.S. military. The military gets a large amount of money from taxes. This quote shows the huge amount of money that the military receives every year. “As MarketWatch's Paul B. Farrell points out, ours is no longer a manufacturing economy or an agricultural economy or even a consumer economy but a war economy, which requires Americans "to surrender 54% of their tax dollars to a war machine." The numbers alone are staggering: the United States presently spends more than $700 billion on its military, which accounts for 48% of the world's total military spending. The military-industrial complex has also helped erect a national security-surveillance state while perpetuating a military empire worldwide” This shows how we use this money for personal gain for the U.S. we go to war not to protect out country but to let private companies and organizations prosper like weapon companies. President Bush Senior is part of a company that goes and buys weapon manufacturers fixes them up and sells them for a much larger profit.

The Project for the New American Century is the spreading of American ideals and influence across the Nation. The person who started up this group is William Kristol and many leaders who were in office with George W Bush are also members of the group including Dick Cheney. Some believe that this is just a way that the U.S. is trying to take control of the whole entire world, which may be true but its true intentions will never really be announced until the events they set in motion are leading to their real goal. For now they say that "American leadership is both good for America and good for the world" which basically is saying that America should show people the right way to act and how each government should be which actually goes against our way of life. In the Bill of Rights, it says every person has the right to speech, religion, etc… yet when we do this to other people these rules to not apply so that is really the part that makes it feel unjust and giving many people ideas that this is just an organization with intentions to take over the whole world.

Eisenhower’s speech was a warning that we the people should heed, because if it is not followed it will be harmful for citizens and will just force us into wars for reasons that are not truly for the people. The Iraq War is just one example of how private organizations that wanted oil, money and power and will sacrifice people who fight for their country as pawns in their quest.

"Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age. Homes have been lost; jobs shed; businesses shuttered. Our health care is too costly; our schools fail too many; and each day brings further evidence that the ways we use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our planet."

1. Why did you choose this section?

I choose it because it addresses the main issue that is at hand. It shows people his main importance is the people and that he wants things to get back to the way they want it to. He wants people to know that he is for the people and whatever he does it’s for him.

2. How do Obama's words relate to the everyday life that you know and understand?

Obama’s words relate to everyday life because he talks about things that people worry about every day and affect the average people that live in America. He says things that relate to people and affect everyone rather than just people who have lots of money or big corporations.

Revised Outline

1. Your thesis statement. This should communicate something original (and hopefully, interesting) about the connection you have established between your icons.

This quote from Shakespear and depiction of two heroes in Gears of war 2 show how war has been changed from this thing that people are scared of and fear to something we play on a daily basis due to how we are shown pieces of literature, play video games and watch movies that show us what war is like from an early age.

2. Body Paragraphs: Topic sentence. Evidence. Analysis. Bonus: Transition to the next paragraph.

Literature is a class every child takes, and a poet they always read about due to his extremely popular literary pieces would be Shakespeare.

"Morale in the English line as they looked upon the overwhelming force of heavily armoured, highly skilled French knights must have been extremely low. King Henry, rising to the occasion, spoke words of encouragement that rallied the English troops and carried them to a victory. As a result of the victory the French Princess Catherine was betrothed to Henry V, and France and England were at peace for the remainder of Henry's short life. He perished of dysentery in 1422, but was survived by his son (Henry VI) and was buried at Westminster Abbey, close to the shrine of Edward the Confessor."

Video games is also another form that children learn of this through violent video games revolving around a team and how they grow and lose people close to them.

Evidence would be gears of war 2, call of duty 1,2,3,4 I am not sure about quotes for this section probably wont use any will just refer to the games.

One more big way that they learn this bond is through movies such as band of brothers that give first hand experience of people who have been in wars like World War 2 and how they grew together a bond that can only formed in combat.

"You've fought bravely, proudly for my country, you're a special group. found in one another a bond that exists only in combat, among brothers. you've seem death and suffered together, I'm proud to have served with each and every one of you."

3. Conclusion: Looks to the future, leaves us thinking, refers to the thesis but keeps us moving beyond so our experience in the real world now includes your perspective.

Look at how wars today cause men to learn of these bonds between men, and how these bonds will be there until there is no war. This bond among men who fight for their country fight for you, and even if you do not believe in the reasons of the war you should always believe in the men who put down their lives for the safety of the country.

Hall of Icons Project

1. Your thesis statement. This should communicate something original (and hopefully, interesting) about the connection you have established between your icons.

Shakespeare wrote "Saint Crispen's Day Speech" about men who stood against many and this quote portrays the bond these men shared just like the picture from gears of war 2 shows this bond between men and shows how this bond has expanded to young children through literature, video games and movies.

2. Body Paragraphs: Topic sentence. Evidence. Analysis. Bonus: Transition to the next paragraph.

We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother

George W Bush, Ecological Savior or Devil

President George W Bush is possible one of the most hated presidents to ever take office. Due to his almost non existent attempts to stop global warming, the opening of drilling around the United States and the war that is now being questioned about its true purpose. Even though he has been accused of all these things and all of them being true and wrong in their own way, he is also the only president to ever make protected waters like State Parks.

There are people that believe that George W Bush has single handedly killed our planet and believes he has done so much wrong that he will have to make up for it for a long time. "Bush's myriad environmental sins could have him serving penance for years. But we decided to highlight seven of his most deadly." Their are also people who think that he doesnt try to stop global warming which may be true, this quote shows someones opinion on this matter. "Meanwhile, he's lent regulatory support to old-school polluting industries, such as coal and oil and gas. With no federal mandate to reduce greenhouse gases, the country has largely been content to burn up the atmosphere with those dirtier, cheaper sources of energy."

There are also people who may think these same things as other people but also believe he is starting something new that will carry on and makes up for a lot of what he did. These preserves are the largest amount of protected land by any president which is a huge feat. "While he has resisted imposing mandatory curbs on greenhouse gas emissions linked to climate change and has opened large areas of the nation to drilling, mining and other use of resources, by the end of his term he will have protected more ocean than any person in history."

Bush although being a very controversial topic in the United States now and probably in future years, has showed us that although people may not seem like they care about nature, that man or women can change and do something that may suprise you.

internship

1. What do you hope to learn or discover about the "adult" world of work while you are at your internship?

I want to experience it and see whats its like in the business world. I also want to know what i need to do to succeed when i get out of high school. I also want to figure out what the business world is like and see if the world of an electrical engineer is really all its cracked up to be.

2. What do you hope to learn or discover about yourself and your identity while you are at your internship this semester?

I hope to see if i like electrical engineering or find a type a job that i enjoy so i have fun when i work. I hope to do this by getting a internship i actually might wanna do when i get older like engineering. If i don't feel that this is my calling it allowed myself to not spend 4 years in college in the wrong major.

3. What goals do you have for yourself for your internship experience?

My goals are to work hard, and make sure that i do everything right so that it compares to other people who work there. I also wanna make this experience as much fun so i can so that i can enjoy it and actually like coming to work. Other than those expectations, i feel that this internship will be a great experience and just not aware how much this will let me grow as a individual and team player.
